The Old Chapel
Description
About this space
The Old Chapel dates from 1809, a converted Methodist chapel and listed Grade II as of architectural or historic interest. An easily recognisable property, set amongst pretty stone cottages that run along the river 'Wey' through the picturesque village of Upwey, just a short drive from the popular seaside town of Weymouth. The Old Chapel has recently been lovingly converted into a holiday home, and provides a perfect base for families or friends looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay, yet still within easy reach of amenities and entertainment.
Having been recently repurposed into a holiday home, the owners have taken great time and care lovingly furnishing and styling the Chapel, to offer a unique place to stay with guests comfort in mind. The ground floor kitchen / dining room offers a sociable and spacious entertaining area, with a newly fitted kitchen, hard wood floors and a farmhouse style dining table. Also on the ground floor are two bedrooms; one double bedroom and one twin zip and link which can be joined to make a King size bed on request (please request bed make up at the time of booking) along with a family shower room and utlity room.
One of the most impressive features of the Chapel are the original stone mullion windows, in the first floor Drawing Room, which frame the countryside views beyond. Also on the first floor is the King size master bedroom and adjacent family bathroom; complete with roll top bath and seperate walk in shower.
From upstairs you can walk out on to a roof terrace, complete with a dining table for alfresco dining and a gas BBQ. The terrace is perfect for sitting out and enjoying the view. At ground level, there is a small front garden surrounded by a stone wall and a paved rear garden, where there is the possibility to park a car on the paved area to the rear of the property. Pets welcome!
The village of Upwey is home to plentiful countryside walks along the steady stream that runs through the village. Stop off at The Wishing Well; a quaint village tea rooms serving coffee and freshly baked cakes, as well as breakfast and lunches. The cafe also has its own adjoining water gardens to enjoy. Also within walking distance from the Chapel are two country pubs and a convenience store selling essentials.

Beautiful accommodation with surroundings. We had a lovely stay here this week. Very clean and had everything we needed, especially with a young infant too with a travel cot and high chair at the property. Local places in walking distance from property. Would recommend and stay here again xx
Beautiful house loved how its been converted really stunning rooms with lovely natural light. Perfect spot short cycle ride to Weymouth town!! Lovely touch having milk and biscuits on arrival really appreciated!
We found it clean and very attractive. We particularly liked the spacious well-equipped kitchen and the large comfy lounge with its chapel windows. The shower upstairs is small but it wasn't a problem as there is also a bath and there is a large shower on the ground floor. We loved our week in this beautiful house.
Very nice accommodation, family friendly., lovely village, very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend
We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Chapel …. A real home from home . The wishing well was so lovely and nearby …. Handy local supermarket nearby . Quaint village setting…. Not far from Weymouth centre and harbour …. Would visit again to explore more .
A beautiful and unusual house in a charming village. The upstairs terrace was a great place for breakfast and relaxing. Bedrooms and bathrooms very attractive and spotlessly clean, as was the kitchen. A light and sunny interior- we were sad to leave !
This place is AMAZING. The balcony at the back of the house, when the sun is out first thing in the morning is so relaxing and just sets you up for the day. The house itself it spacious, immaculately cleaned & has everything you need and more if needed. Quality & attention to detail can't be faulted. The sun rises at the back and sets at the front, and they've even got furniture in the front garden so you enjoy the last rays 'if you're back from your adventures' ;-) Location is perfect if you plan on visiting many of the fabulous attractions along the Jurassic Coast and beyond. Then to top it off, they are also dog friendly. Absolutely love this place and we've stayed in many over the years in the UK. We plan on re-visiting in 2026 and if it's still available, we will 100% be booking it again. Thank you x
Excellent comms from Amy. There is now a larger fridge which was great. If you are going with young children there is no garden but beaches are easy to get to. We had a lovely stay, beds comfortable and decor beautiful.
Beautifully presented historical house that is well decorated throughout and situated in a fantastic location. Would very happily return for a second visit.
We had an excellent time in this beautiful home. We stayed with my toddler, my husband's grown up son and our dog, it accommodated us all easily. The kitchen was beautiful and well equipped. The beds super comfy. The bath very luxurious. The balcony at the back lovely for birdsong and the garden at the front perfect for evening sun... We found the location very handy for driving to Weymouth, plus east to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door or west to Lyme Regis. Plus we enjoyed a walk to the Ship Inn one evening and the Upwey Wishing Well Tea Rooms one afternoon. Thank you for a very relaxing stay, we would love to return...
Beautiful property in a picturesque village, a very special place to stay.
We spent the Easter weekend at the Old Chapel and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful, decorated with great taste and making the most of its stunning features. The hosts are responsive and helpful, there's a lot to do around the area, it's fabulous. The only little downside is the kitchen equipment is a little bit limited, but nothing that affected the quality of our stay in any way.
Old Chapel, Upwey, Weymouth. A clean, modern, well-equipped luxury holiday home fashioned from what was previously a chapel. The personnel at Jurassic Coast Holiday Homes were excellent to deal with, being both friendly and helpful. I certainly recommend giving them a try, especially if all their holiday accommodations are as nice as this one.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we're delighted at how
spotless the place was on arrival. Any question answered
promptly.
We had a short walk to the bus stop into Weymouth which was
easy and took us all the way to the seafront , great fun for the
kids.
Had a lovely time at the old chapel, clean and spacious - also Amy was very quick to respond to any questions we had. Very well decorated throughout and set within an idyllic location. 10/10!
We absolutely loved our stay in Weymouth at the old chapel. It was a lovely space and perfect setting for us! We found the décor really beautiful too! Thank you !!
